Close out a role that ended
Close a role with how it ended, or pause it. Its history stays, and you can reopen it later.
Steps
- Open the role.
- Open its stage.Desktop Choose the stage button at the top right.Phone Tap the stage.
- Under Pause or close, choose how it ended.Withdrew, Not selected or No offer. On an offer you can also choose Accepted or Declined. On hold pauses the role without closing it.
- Confirm. The role moves to Closed with its full history.
Why it works this way
- Saying how a role ended keeps your history honest: you can see later which roles you stepped away from and which didn’t move ahead.
- Closed roles leave your Pipeline columns, so the board shows only what’s still live. Find them with Closed at the top of Pipeline.
- Closed and archived roles don’t count toward Starter’s limit.
- Archive (in the role’s ⋯ menu) hides a role and keeps everything, without saying how it ended.
If something’s off
- You closed it by mistake. Open it from Closed, choose ⋯, then Reopen.
- You want it gone completely. Choose ⋯, then Delete. Deleting removes the role and its history, so archiving is usually the better choice.
